I loathe CLI if we're talking the linux terminal because it's just letter nonsense and not a natural language.*

But thinking back to the adventure games I played in the early 80s they fascinated me, because it made it seem like the possibilities were endless. Showing the actual option (like in later point and click games) did not give me that same feeling.

*(Amiga DOS CLI gets a pass though since you can kinda guess the syntax and use optional words like "from" and "to". It's quite legible.)

@androidarts LOL ... ALL natural languages are "just letter nonsense" (I say this having taken university level linguistics). Learning the language is what turns it from nonsense to communication. I learned programming and a second language at the same time in grade school (almost 50 years ago), and I personally see no real, significant difference between learning one or the other (except for that programming languages generally have fewer exceptions than "natural" languages)

Feel free to learn what I said--there actually is a translator somewhere on the internet (hint: it's stackexchange!). You just need to put in a little work for a one-off reply! Just put in the work man. You must put in the work! Do it!

Started with Vic20 BASIC myself. Made the mistake of trying Perl once.
